Garage Tool Organization with Wall Control Pegboard
Transforming your garage into a functional and aesthetically pleasing workspace can significantly enhance your productivity and enjoyment. By using Wall Control pegboards, you can create a colorful and organized environment that makes finding and storing tools easier. This guide details how to renovate your garage using Wall Control pegboards, creating a space that’s both beautiful and functional.
Cleaning and Sorting
The first step in our garage workshop renovation was a thorough cleaning. We removed all the tools, sorted through them, and discarded broken or rarely used items. Organizing tools and supplies into categories helped streamline the process. Initially, the garage looked messier, but this was a necessary step to achieving a well-organized space.
Upgrading to Wall Control Pegboards
We replaced our old pegboard panels with Wall Control pegboards, which offer more durable and versatile storage options. These pegboards come in both horizontal and vertical orientations and various sizes. For our project, we chose horizontal pegboards in multiple colors, including white, pink, red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple, to create a vibrant, rainbow-striped wall. Each panel is 32 inches long, and we opted for the 8-inch height to maximize color variety.
Installing the pegboards was straightforward. Our exposed garage studs made it easy to attach the panels, but we added extra vertical boards where necessary for additional support. If you have drywall, using anchors would be the alternative. The installation kit included all necessary screws and anchors, making the process quick and efficient.
Setting Up Functional Storage
After installing the pegboards, we organized our tools and equipment. Frequently used hand tools were placed on the pegboards for easy access, while lesser-used items were stored higher up. This approach ensures that all tools are visible and accessible, catering to different usage frequencies.
We added shelves with plastic bins to store smaller items like glues and Dremel accessories. Bench top tools were organized under the workbench for easy access and quick connection to our new dust collection system. To further enhance functionality, we installed a new power strip on the workbench, featuring multiple plugs and USB ports for charging devices and powering tools.
Enhancing the Work Environment
To maintain a clean workspace, we installed a Rockler Dust Collector. This system effectively manages dust, allowing us to work on projects without getting messy. The dust collector was a game-changer, keeping the garage clean and improving the overall work environment.
With everything in place, we moved the workbench and tools back into the garage. The organized setup not only looks great but also makes the workspace highly functional. The rainbow pegboard wall adds a touch of creativity and color, making the garage a more enjoyable place to work.
